Welcome to Root & Petal Flower Farm, we’re glad you’re here! We are a family owned cut-flower farm located in Genola, Utah. We specialize in growing Peonies and a curated assortment of our favorite specialty flowers throughout the growing season (April-October).
Here is a little bit about us:
Im Sam, my husband Will and I have lived in Genola for 7 years. After we bought our fixer upper property in 2020, I began pouring my passion for design into our home and property. I have a desire to create a cozy sanctuary for our three littles to grow up and explore the outdoors to their hearts content. Growing up on a dairy farm myself, I cherish the simple lifestyle that farm life encompasses and I want that for my family. Ive always been inspired by nature. The idea of starting a flower farm started from a love of gardening and the grounding ability it has on us. The spring that we started renovating our home, we wandered the property as all the plants were coming to life. To our surprise, we found peony shoots coming up, along with hundreds of tulips and daffodils. Our peonies bloomed the week of mothers day and my oldest daughter and I wrapped bunches of them and took them around to friends and family. Year after year we’ve watched and waited for all of those flowers to bloom so that we could enjoy them into our home and continue sharing them with our loved ones. The fulfillment of sharing just a few with someone we love sparked the idea of starting a flower farm, so that we could share more of our flowers with our community. Much thought and planning went into this idea and it soon turned into Root and Petal Flower Farm.
To me, starting our flower farm isn’t just about growing and selling unique flowers, its about building an idea and brand that I’m passionate about, creating a simple lifestyle with my little family, and sharing beauty and joy with others through my flowers. I truly believe that working with my hands in the dirt and seeing the natural beauty of flowers is good for the soul and brings me joy. So I’m beyond excited to share that beauty growing at our farm with our community and local talented florists.
About Us
Behind the Brand
My “roots” are in farming. I grew up on a dairy farm where I was immersed in a simple lifestyle and to “take care of the animals and land and in return it will take care of you.” I have fond memories of helping my parents take care of a vegetable garden and often cutting a watermelon open to share on the lawn, caring for and watching the flowers bloom in the garden with my mom, and lots and lots of weeding. It has been instilled in me through experience that the most happiness comes from simple things. Now that I have a family of my own, my husband and I have put down “our roots” where we have put our personal touch on a little old house with some land and created a little sanctuary for our family to grow. It’s an exciting new step in our journey to start a small business where we can bring simple joys to locals through our flowers.
Our Farming Approach
We take a simple and natural approach to growing our flowers. We nurture the soil with organic compost and try to incorporate natural resources and methods for weed and pest control.
We are stewards over our land and strive to “take care of the land so that in turn it takes care of us”. Growing Specialty crops requires the utmost care and attention to the soil health to get the best results out of our crops.
Being a small business means there is just an extra touch of pride and love that goes into caring for and harvesting the flowers by hand.
